Neuroplasticity Principles
1. Use it or lose it
When you repeat an action every day, you will be strengthening your neural connection to that specific action and have easier access to that brain region.
Cons: Do something every day or lose it, as lack of access leads to atrophy.
2. Use it and improve it
The use of neural connections actually strengthens the circuit by:
- Synaptogenesis: Creation of new synapses
- Angiogenesis: Rewiring of existing pathways
- Neurogenesis: Creation of new neurons
3. Specificity
Actions should be specific to the situation
4. Repetition
More is better.
5. Intensity matters
The repetitions should be of how quality, stressful, and intense
6. Time matters
It's always time, so now is always the right time.
7. Silence matters
Actions + skills should be meaningful and rewarding
8. Age matters
Optimal recovery and rest
9. Transference
Neuroplasticity traits can be transferred to new skills and actions through existing circuits
10. Competition
Small challenges and healthy competition could be good drivers for better performance. Always integrated with repetition.
